My first music memories are the sound of vinyl scratching along on my families old record player. My dad would usually be spinning Simon & Garfunkel and all sorts of blues. When I was about 10 years old it would be my dad that would also teach me my first chords on the guitar. At the time I had no idea this painful & annoying process of learning these chords and moving between them would turn out to be a passion that would eventually lead me to Nashville, TN to pursue writing music as a career.

By the time I hit jr. high I was all about bands. Loved MXPX, Blink-182, The Get Up Kids and all kinds of other bands that came on the radio. Then when i was about 13 I remember hearing band’s like Jimmy Eat World & Foo Fighters for the first time and it rocked my world.

I wanted to write songs.

Fast forward through another decade or so of learning guitar, playing in local bands, making a hand-full of decent songs, and a truck-load of awful ones. I’ll spare some of the details of this portion of my life, but I’ll say this, God lead me through an amazing journey in those years that only He could take me on, and by 2007 he opened the doors for me to join the Christian rock/worship band Kutless (Tooth & Nail/BEC Recordings).

Since 2007 I have been touring and writing with the band. Over the last few years I have also had the privilage of contributing writing on numerous records outside of Kutless, primarily in the CCM market. These projects have all continued to shape my abilities and define who I am as a writer. 

During the aforementioned time that i was learning music and playing in all kinds of local bands, I did go to school for a couple years. After completing my Associates Degree in Graphic Design & Multimedia, and before joining Kutless, I worked as a graphic designer for The Militia Group & SideCho Records, two independent record labels in the Los Angeles area. I believe the experience gained while working in the record industry during those years only gave me more knowledge and focus to apply to my continuing efforts and projects as a designer.

I love simple and intentional, eye-catching design that establishes fresh branding and strong imaging for artists as well as businesses and organizations alike.

That’s me in a nutshell. I’m a Christian. A Husband. A Musician. A Songwriter. A Designer. I believe in God and that my purpose is to point others to Him through love & art.
